With more than 15 years in the maritime industry, Dustin B. Salinas advanced from deckhand to steerman to pilot to captain for various companies in just three years and 10 months. Mr. Salinas’s career began in maritime navigation, where he quickly rose through the ranks. He started as a deckhand and progressed to captain in just a few years. From 2010 to 2019, he served as the captain for American Commercial Barge Line. Following this role, Mr. Salinas became a maritime navigation instructor at Innovative Towboat Imaging between 2019 and 2023. Among his most notable milestones in the industry, he was recognized as the fastest and youngest to navigate a 40-barge tow at age 27.
Mr. Salinas received a master’s degree in maritime management from the Merchant Marine Academy in 2019. Highly qualified in his industry, he has also been recognized with a Master of Towing Vessels certification from the U.S. Coast Guard since 2014.
